Amber in 3D

game

Small update (08-07-2015): I was doing experiments in Flash when I discovered a big problem with their memory usage. I replaced most of my Arrays with ByteArrays, which work faster for the purpose I'm giving them.

Anyways, now the program runs over two times faster than before. Also, while I was doing that, I decided to try a few experiments. Press the HOME and END keys to view them. You can also press the Page Up key to see different lighting methods I used.

Original description

Here's a 3D model of Amber. I've been working on it for nearly 2 weeks. I made both the model and the 3D engine that displays it.

I want to put a few disclaimers here, although not in the form of a list:

The model is incomplete. I considered making an interactive 3D Amber inflation similar to the old Sapphire and Lucario animations, but it didn't have enough polygons to make it inflaltable and my 3D graphics engine needs a bit of extra work to make animated things. The graphics engine goes a bit slow, so I hope you don't mind too much.

In the time I spent working on it I learned a few things about 3D modelling, and today I determined that it's not very well formed and I'd be better off starting from scratch than trying to fix it. It doesn't bother me. After all, it was a good learning experience and I can just try again. I'm planning to study more about 3D modelling in the future.

Finally, before I get comments about it, I want to make it clear that I don't need and help or suggestions for 3D modelling. I don't need people to tell me what programs are best, how to make 3D models or where I can go to find useful tutorials. I prefer to do things my own way. If you're a 3D modelling expert, that's great, but I don't need to hear about it.
