This minigame is my personal favorite so far, because it is an action/reflex type of game. What really makes this game stand out for me is the amount of hand-drawn animation I had to do for this. At first, I was trying to come up with some ragdoll style animation for the critters that just straight up wasn't working. It looked horrible. So I decided to bite the bullet, and engage in hand-drawn animation.

For the first time in my life.

The last five years since I started Flash coding, I've only had to handdraw small simple animations like bursts of fire or maybe short five to six frame actions. But this is the first game where I had to hand draw five seconds of a single sweeping action. The only other time I had to draw so much was for an animation class in 2004 when I animated seven seconds of a flour sack doing a walk cycle, a surprised expression, getting abducted by aliens, and dropping back to earth with grain leaking out of its underside.

I got a C- in the class.

I'm reminded constantly that I was not an A student. While I've got a good freelance gig going and have worked on some of the highest profile games in the last couple years, I find it so odd because my college GPA was pretty dismal. So here I am, going back to the tenets of a class I just barely passed, a class that I did not take the 'intermediate' level, and actually impressed with what I was able to make.

But as ~https://seane.deviantart.com/ will show you with https://www.seane.deviantart.com/gallery/?catpath=scraps#/d39coap his recent artistic capability graph, my hand-drawn animation skills are in the orange. I think I did pretty well, but I'm sure a lot of people who do animation on a regular basis will get a laugh out of how silly it is, and that I'm proud of something that I really shouldn't be too terribly proud of. Eh, that's how I imagine it.
