The Singapore Philatelic Museum building was originally commissioned in 1906 as part of the Anglo-Chinese School.

In the 1970s, the building became the Methodist Book Room until 19th August 1995, when the Telecommunication Authority of Singapore converted it into the present day museum. On the 1st April 2000, the museum was transferred to the National Heritage Board as a fully-owned subsidiary.
