A compass
Extra food and water
Extra clothes, especially rain gear
First Aid kit
Sunscreen and sunglasses
Flashlight with extra batteries and bulbs
An emergency shelter
Your adult should also carry a pocket knife and waterproof matches or lighter for emergencies.
