Twilight Valkyrie v2

game

Still the same background and a lot of the same ship designs, but now with a lot more features. Twilight Valkyrie began about four months ago, and was supposed to be a cheesy mini-game that I was to build inside of the preloader of the Wrecknology flash pitch in Demo1. The game took off with a mind of its own, and has since gotten way too huge to effectively implement as a preloader minigame, as I'm now scrounging together something extremely simple to act as a preloader to this game. The plan for v3 is to have a shop system and a second level with new background, enemies, and boss to go with. V3 is scheduled to be uploaded within a month, and by that point, it will then be submitted to other hosts of flash games like Ebaumsworld, Newgrounds, Albinoblacksheep, and if they make ground there, it will then be submitted to AddictingGames.com.

V3 will also have a bunch of tweaks for the level-up system, as some of the level-ups are still kinda lame, broken, or unbalanced. The larger shot? The second heat sink? Yeah, you guys didn't seriously think I'd let the game get THAT easy, did ya? I've gotta leave room for the shop to upgrade as well.

So what's in V2?

-A functioning 2-stage boss character with modular target layout
-A few more enemies
-Better opening screen
-TWEAKS TWEAKS TWEAKS TWEAKS TWEAKS!
-Enemy drops to help you survive to see the boss character

Playtester hints:
Don't worry if the boss gives you silent treatment. Sounds aren't fully programmed into it yet in a way that ensures the sound will actually trigger. Expect this to be fixed very soon.

For those of you who actually read descriptions, here are a few tips and secrets that I threw into the game. First off, the game by default is now set to low quality, so you don't have to make the adjustment every time you play. So there's no longer any need to do that to acquire an acceptable framerate on older machines.

Secondly, the combos actually work in this version. In the last one, they were only fifty to thirty percent. But with a quick fix, it is now 100 percent. So go for combos to plow through the level faster.

Here's a big one. The delete key. During early playtesting, I would set the delete key to do special actions like destroy all enemies on the screen, make drops, or make farting noises for laughs. But now, if you push the delete key, you will be given 1000 points. This should help you get straight to the final level fully levelled up and with your stats at full.

I still need heaps of feedback and suggestions if this is to be any good.

Comments appreciated. Criticism demanded.
